Ummm... we have a new goal. July we are going to do Logan's Triathlon! I'm totally serious! Get your training pants on ladies, cause I mean it! 500m swim, 12 mile bike, then a 5K! I'm even posting this on both blogs (mine and gettin' skinny) so that we'll see it twice and remember how we're supposed to be training! TRAIN! It shouldn't even be that hard! DO it! do it DO IT!
DO IT!

pedometer test run...

So, I got a free pedometer from Jolly Time Pop Corn. I used it for the first time today. Boy, do I like the results I got! I walked 8066 steps on my speedwalk with stroller today! That's 375.4 calories and 3.504 miles! Go me!

3 weeks strong...

Well, I have offically been better the last three weeks. If I continue with this track record, I will have 4 days a week were I have REALLY worked out...You know, not just the "I'll run on the treadmill a mile", which I have been known to do (which is so much better than nothing at I, I know). GO ME!

Me too, me too!

Tamme, I think Amy has been the only one really doing that much until just lately. I found out I've been struggling with NO ENERGY due to a hypothyroid problem that litterally makes me get no sleep and want to eat ALL the time to try and give me energy that I was lacking before. So glad that I was able to figure that out. Anyway, been on meds for a about four weeks and I finally HAVE ENERGY! I've been working out four-to-five days a week and eating less and I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!

The run was a few weeks ago. I didn't know until two days before. Amy and I both didn't make it. We need a new goal to reach. I VOTE FOR HAWAII IN 2011!!!! LOL

Miss you both

What the skinny?

When is your run? Or did it already happen? How did it go?

I posted, oh, a few months ago and said I was starting to work out. Well, I lied. I just started last week. I start at 5:30am and work out with some ladies from the branch. Its been fun, but tiring. It feels good to get these muscles moving again.

I want to know how your run was? It might be time for some pictures? Eh? or Aaah?

keep it up!

I'm slacking, too. I let the weekend get away from me.

Exhaustion tests: pah! I don't really do them. I just make a goal to get to a certain amount, and then get to it. I'm up to like 25. I'll bet I could DO more, I just don't. Push ups have always been on the easier side for me. I can NOT do pull ups. That's where I always fail.

Finished week 2 today...

I'm a slacker. I have put other priorities before these short and easy to work in workouts! My max is 21 consecutive pushups (after the 4 sets). I do my exhaustion test on Monday. Thanks for getting me back on track! Good job for you! How are yours coming? Hope you are having fun in Colorado!

pushups

I'm on the end of the second week for the pushup challenge, amy. how are you coming?

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Up for a challenge Debbers?

So, there is a website called www.hundredpushups.com. Scared yet?

You do an exhaustion test to see how many you can do in a row. Then, they have a 3X a week workout for you (takes all of like 5 mins). I decided I want to have "WAY SAXY" arms this summer! Come on Deb! Do it! Tell your hubby to do it, too.

scales...

I haven't stepped on a scale since December, and I'm keeping it that way for a while. I can tell you my calves and tummy muscles are sore and I'm TRYING to eat better. It'll get there. It has to. I don't have patience for this not to pay off. Besides, I just want to FEEL better and not FEEL blubber, so it's going on. Good for you, AMY! that's fab. I'm here with you, even if no one else is!

YAAAAYYYYYYY!!!

I actually saw a number on my scale this morning that I haven't seen in a looooonggggg time!

Unfortunately in talking to my little sister (who has a 10 month old baby), I figured out that I still weigh 20 more lbs than her! Ugh! If that is not motivating I don't know what is! But one step at a time. I will keep going and continue to find numbers I haven't seen for a while.

Changin' It Up!

I have decided that working out bores me. So, I have also decided to mix things up. And I don't just mean the cookies I mixed up! Yum! Nah, actually they were granola bars and I am wrapping them up and putting them away for the kids to take for lunches.

Anyhow, the last two mornings, I have gotten up at 5AM! Not my favorite thing! But Wed am, I went to a spinning class (holy Jell-o legs)! Then, this morning we went walking/running at the high school track. Not my hardest workout ever, but it was 5AM! I am pretty sure I won't do that consistently, because my brain and body like to live in denial that 5am even exists. But, I am running/walking on the treadmill, playing volleyball (as my shoulder permits), spinning class, going to the track, and the occasional workout video (these however, I lose interest in really fast). Plus, I have some back/abdomin exercises I am trying to be consistent at doing. Hopefully the weather will get nice really quickly and allow for some more changes! Yay!

terrible week

SERIOUSLY, what a terrible week and I'm beginning to FEEL it! I was food poisoned (or something) and after all the barfing I was STARVING and could never fill myself up enough...So, on to the next week and I"m not looking back...

Had to speak in church yesterday...never my most favorite thing, but Nick did give me the sweetest compliment---it was from the heart...I appreciated hearing that!

Slacker; I know.

Well, I barely made 1.5 miles. But at least I forced a workout into a busy day. 200 calories. 20 minutes. Walking/sprinting. Worked up a good sweat.

Hope things are going well for all of you!

Workout

Just logging time. I have to keep telling myself that I don't eat crap like chocolate, chips, whatever the latest feeling of deprivation is. Ugh!

Anyhow, I walked/sprinted over 2 miles, 26 minutes and 315 calories. I also played some volleyball last night.

I was talking to Deb the other day about carb/protein intake and thought maybe some of you would like to give this a shot. I know some of us really like those instant breakfast drinks. While they do have some good vitamins and minerals, they don't really have much protein. They are mostly carbs which don't fill me (and I would assume other people) up. So, I have started adding a scoopful of Protein (shake) powder to mine.

1 cup of skim milk 80 calories

1 instant breakfast shake 130 calories, protein 5g, carbs 27g
Vitamin A, Vit C, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin E, Vit K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vit B6, Folic Acid, Vit B12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Phosporus, Iodine, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Mangnese

1 scoop protein shake 120 calories
Protein 23g, carbs 3 g

Plus 1 cup water. Mix in blender and Voila!

Total Calories 330
Total Fat 3 g
Cholesterol 75 g
Total protein 36g
Total carb 42g

No Fiber, but I was going to get some FiberSure to add to it. Just haven't made it to Costco, yet.

Anyhow, hope this helps someone! Keep movin'!

loggin' in...

So far this week: 40 minutes on the stair stepper ( I was at my mom's house the last two days to help her with her Disney thing in Feb...20 voice lessons in 2 days! I'm exhausted! I go back Jan 28-29...U interested in working out with me on the 27 and 28, Amy? We could go to Mom's clubhouse?)
3 treadmill miles (about 20 minutes)

It's only Thursday! I didn't work out yesterday, and I REALLY over ate! Kneader's should not exist! Evil Kneaders! their fruit tarts kick my butt! Hopefully I'll fix that today...

PS...I do better when I have a little treat during the day...I get the little debbie 100 calories treats...Here are some coupons for it, if you need them: You can print any of them twice! They change about every two weeks, so get them soon if you are going to get them (they've already been on a week or so)...you do have to 'install' the coupon printer, but it's worth it...
coupons!

YEAH! Tamme's coming! Feel better, Tamme...I'm so sorry you're sick! that stinks...How is Kloey liking her new school?

Where are the rest of the sibs, anyway!? marlies, jill, bex? Where are you?

Happy New Home!

Yay Tamme!

I am sorry you are sick. I hope you get well and all your boxes unpacked soon. I don't envy your having to unpack. I just had to pack up Christmas and it was soooo time consuming. Do you like your new house and the yard? :) Yay!

Glad you are hoping to make it. We hope you can, too! A 5k is 3.6 miles.

DEB! (exasperatedly) (is that a word?)
Don't compare! Log your miles with pride! You are doing something for you and for your body!
You should be proud! The only reason I can do the amount I do (I should do a lot more) is because I have a treadmill in my house and believe me it is mostly walking right now. Otherwise there is no way I would get a workout in a lot of the time. So, ultimately you have wayyyy more discipline than I do! (oops there's me comparing-hehe). It's that girl thing. Anyhow, log them on here to motivate the rest of us!

PS Jill, do we have a date for the 5k yet?

Workout? Who? Me???

Ok, so I am the one totally slacking in the work outs. But I hope that by doing this post, I will actually do it. We have moved now, so that is no longer an excuse. But I do have some lovely puss pockets on my throat, that seem quite content to just hang out. Ben, I think is more excited for me to work out than me. He even is looking at plane tickets to Vegas for me to run with you. So I will get this BIG hiney in gear.

See you Vegas!

PS how long is a 5K?

skinny sminny...

I have decided that being 'skinny' is a great concept, but I have never been such a person...ever...that thought is a little disheartening, but I am still perservering! I still WANT to keep going...

I'm not logging my mins/distances/calories because they are a pitious comparision to amy's (not that I'm comparing---ha! how can you not and call yourself female!?)...but I am doing my best...

three workouts this week and it's only Wed! Go me!

Signing in motivator!

So I didn't have a workout to log for the day when I signed in earlier. Writing my post motivated me to log some miles, but I had to actually walk/run them before I could write them on here. So,

3.58 miles
50.45 minutes
515 calories

Yay!

Moans and Groans of Soreness!

So, I have started attending a workout "get together?" one of my friends has had going for about a year or more in the chapel down the street. I went a few times a while back (under pressure from her not because I thought Turbo Jam sounded like an appealing workout).

I quit going because of the inconvenience. However, one of my close friends has been going lately and I can see a loss of size on her and the other friend. Then, I saw a friend I hadn't seen since I stopped going (she also attends) and she looks incredible! Obviously my way has not been working. So, now I am going again. This time not under duress, but because of how awesome they look because they persevered.

Whaaaa! If I had persevered I could be skinny too!

...soon.

going forth...

Well, I'm on my way...The calories are coming down, like I'd hoped...I know when you nurse you're still supposed to be at about 2300 a day or so and I'm at 1800-2000 a day and trying to stay closer to 1800...I do believe my body can handle it because it's already get enough to take off of it...

I have given myself 'one day' a week in which I can eat more than I usually do...it usually becomes a Sat (or it has in the last two sats available since the new year) because I'm home with hubby and hubby likes to EAT!

Workouts are going okay...not the greatest and the best, but i do get in about 20 minutes a day...I'm working slowly, but I'll get there...I've been riding bikes, walking with claire-bear in the sun (when it occasionally is sunny) and riding my stationary bike inside...I'M DOING IT!

My stomach doesn't have the ability to pack it in like I used to be able to...its shrunk in it's portion size...I was starving for dinner because I accidentally skipped breakfast and had an early lunch so we had pizza for dinner...I could only eat one and half pieces before I was 'bursting'! GO ME!

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Hi Family!!

Where are your workout posts! It is not that long until the 5K run/walk in Las Vegas! I am holding you to this! Get going! :)

Today, I was tired of being inside to walk/run. So, I was contemplating what to do, when my friend called. I talked her into taking our daughters out for a walk in the double jog stroller. We did not realize how stinking cold it was outside. We walked about 2 miles. I wore shorts and a warm sweatshirt. The girls were bundled in coats, hats, etc and a BIG blanket wrapped around them. They still said they were cold periodically. My legs turned bright red, but then so did my friend's legs and she actually had pants on. So, yes I was wearing shorts, but I don't think it really made a difference. So, when we got back, we drank back on the calories we'd burned with yummy hot chocolate made with her cocoa-motion machine. I think I may need to get one of those! We drink enough hot chocolate in this house! My 25 lb bucket is dangerously low. I have enough for a few more days. My children will have withdrawal symptoms, if I don't make it to the Bishop's Storehouse to get another 25 lb bag of the "the stuff." I know they believe they will DIE without it!

My 1st workout of 2009!

Justing logging in. First workout of 2009 consisted of walking. I walked 3.1 miles it took 47 minutes; burning 490 calories.

Just so all of you remember, it doesn't have to be about speed. Although, the faster = more calories burned. Fat loss from workouts really starts happening after 40 minutes. This challenge is not about an unattainable goal. It is about consistently making little improvements that will over time result in a fitter, happier us.

Don't start out so fast and hard that you burn yourself out before you have even begun. Especially if you haven't really been doing much workout-wise. Start out walking and after your body is "broken in." lol Then, pump up your workout a little more.

Love you all! You can do it!
